The Baltic countries and the USA have good relations. Proof of this was the visit by President George Bush to the Latvian capital Riga in May 2005.
Nordicum was present when Bush praised the Baltic dynamism and democracy but criticized authoritarian Belarus.
Nordicum also visited World EXPO 2005 in Aichi, Japan, where the Nordics have a joint pavilion. The Nordic pavilion is one of the best country pavilions at EXPO. The main theme of EXPO is "Nature's wisdom".
Nordicum 3/2005 also includes the Energy & Environment Special Report, which concentrates on opportunities of nuclear power generation in Finland and Sweden. Both countries produce a big share of their electricity from nuclear power. Finland is also building a new reactor in Olkiluoto.
